Department of Urdu and Persian
The department of Urdu and Persian provides education for the students pursuing undergraduate and postgraduate courses under Choice Based Credit System (CBCS). It focuses on the study of literature, linguistics, and cultural aspects of Urdu and Persian languages. It offers courses ranging from introductory classes in learning Urdu language, grammar, to advanced studies in poetry, prose, and literary criticism. Additionally, departments often explore the historical and cultural significance of Urdu and Persian-speaking regions. These departments play a crucial role in preserving and promoting these languages and their rich literary heritage. Thus, the department, since its establishment, working for the promotion of Urdu and Persian languages through quality education and research. In addition, the department is also involved in extra-curricular and cultural activities. It organises national and international seminars, inter-college quiz competition, debate and bait bazi with the objective to celebrate historical and literary journey of Urdu language in the country. The department has produced eminent personalities in the subject. Besides, the formal education, the department encourages its students for competitive exams such as CUET, and UGC-NET, etc.
